SISTER ACT

Megan & Moria

M. Flynn is a jewelry and accessories retail boutique and custom design studio owned by jeweler/designer sister duo Megan and Moria Flynn. They founded the business over 10 years ago, originally selling their unique pieces wholesale to over 80 specialty boutiques around the U.S. In response to their expanding Boston customer base, they opened their flagship store in Boston’s South End in 2009.

Sister owned since 2009

Meet Megan

Megan graduated with a BA from Colby College, and worked in marketing in Boston before pursuing her Master of Science at Medill School at Northwestern University. She also has earned her Graduate Gemology Degree (G.G.) from GIA. With a true love for jewelry and design, Megan loves to travel to exhibits and read to learn more about all types of jewelry. She loves collecting jewelry, stones and still dreams of the ultimate collections she’s seen: The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor at Christie’s in New York, and Barbara Berger’s Vintage Jewelry Exhibit at the MAD museum. Megan lives in South Boston with her husband & dog Charlie. They enjoy sailing, skiing and hiking.

Meet Moria

After attending Bowdoin College, Moria travelled extensively before settling in Argentina where she initially worked in banking. After, she attended business school at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, to pursue her passions for business, management and retail – and eventually design. At Sloan, she was president of the business school’s retail club and hosted retail leaders from all sectors. Moria loves building new jewelry pieces and creates many of the pieces in our cases. She lives in Milton, MA with her husband, and children: Jack, Paddy and our jewelry girl, Maggie.

Expertise

While Megan and Moria have always made jewelry in many forms, their education in jewelry and jewelry making is very important to them. Moria is focused on jewelry CAD design while Megan sources stones to best fit the needs of each project. When the sisters launched their custom fine jewelry business, they felt passionate that customers should have the opportunity to buy exactly what they wanted, as opposed to only being sold an existing pre-made piece or stones. They found the market to be lacking in custom jewelry options that were accessible and affordable. By allowing clients to work directly with M. Flynn’s designers, they have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about every aspect of the design and development process.
