Last week, we hosted an event showcasing David Webb Jewelry and launching the brand in Boston. We have been carrying the line since early this winter, but hadn’t officially launched it until now. We worked with the David Webb team who put together an incredible selection of jewelry that truly showcased the beautiful craftsmanship and design quality of the line.
We held a special preview night with the MFA’s Museum Council, where their jewelry curator Emily Stoehrer was in attendance to speak about the history of jewelry design and how David Webb’s designs could have been influenced by designs of past generations. Emily is the only full time jewelry curator in the United States.
David Webb’s own archivists Dianne Batista & Levi Higgs were also in attendance, and gave some insight on David Webb’s designs, the motifs that he followed and his design influences. They showcased some of his most well-known designs, and some extraordinary pieces from their archives.
Guests were invited to view the pieces and try them on.
The David Webb archivists also brought along some of the original design sketches for select pieces.
The following evening, we opened up the event to the public, and extended the invite to our customers. Levi & Dianne were on-hand once again to tell the story behind the amazing pieces and give attendees a chance to try them on.
We had so much fun learning all about David Webb and trying on so many of their beautiful creations.
